Creative self expression from the Creative Visual Art programme
There are many apps on Apple and Android that helps to convert photos to a Manga or comic impression from a portrait photo. However, AI generated graphics tend to loose more self identity as compared to drawing a portrait by an individual. In other words, instead of a template, the art formed by hand is original and creative.

Our Creative Visual Art young artists took 10 weeks, going back to basics on manga drawing guidelines, perspectives and styles. Digital skills wise, the tools used in Adobe Photoshop include the use of brushes and the Pen tool.
I believe the challenge the young artists faced is not on the digital skills or fundamental basics of drawing manga, but rather, it's on the dilemma of how they want to be represented in a manga form. Since most our young artists watch manga anime, they all have a favourite character who is adorable, pretty, representing valor or just cool. To represent one self in art, it takes courage and openness and most of them found that representation of themselves through manga and I am proud and happy for them!
